Kids Dig It Too


One of the joys of kids is their participation in my gardening chores. They mainly like the eating part. But Sam my rough and tough 7 year old brings mom a flower every day. Right after playing football, army and BMX biking.

This is my front yard garden with wonderfully tolerant Cat Mint blooming in the background. Sevaral of the blooms are now in a small crystal vase by the kittchen sink

Slowing Down Cilantro

I have always used dried cilantro in my rubs sauces and other recipes. Boy did I get an awakening when I tried fresh from the garden cilantro. A few sprigs of fresh cilantro and some New Mexico chiles and a border feast is on the top of the menu.

However cilantro is very fast to flower. It is difficult keeping the blooms off. So I am going to sow a succession crop of cilantro every few weeks just to have enough fresh leaves around while the flowers dry and turn into another favorite spice......coriander
