Japanese Beetles Attack Again

If slugs are not enough n your herb garden now come the Japanese beetles. Unfortunately basil is a prime host for the pests and I do not recommend spraying heavy artillery on greens. And pyrethrins do not work very well on these sharks of the garden.

Pick off as many of the beetles as you can. Then place a beetle trap 50 feet away from the garden in peril. Never place the beetle trap in the garden. All that will do is attract more beetles to the garden for one last final meal before seeking the bait in the bag.

Another defense is to just harvest a lot of fresh herbs right now and start drying and storing for winter.
